![]() ![]() Sound City / Hiwatt Crossover Amps |
Dave Reeves designed and built the original line of Sound City amps on contract after forming his own company (Hylight/ Hiwatt), to raise capital. This means there are a few "tweeners" out there, which looks like an older Sound City amp, but which have some Hiwatt overtones. Arbiter "Power 100"
This is one of the earliest store-branded amps from J&I Arbiter's, compared
and contrasted with a later SC105. There are lot of similarities in chassis
layout and the same controls. There are further similarities in the interior
as well, including the power supply layout and the flying busbar connecting
the first few preamp tubes.

This one has a Sound City front panel, but has a Hiwatt/Hylight sticker on the
back. It is also made with the Pete Townshend CP103 control layout. It is also
the amp pictured in the Arbiter pictures above.
